The receivers were stamped "U.S.," "springfield armory" or "rock island arsenal," "Model 1903" and the serial number. Barrels were marked behind the front sights with the initials of the manufacturer ("S.A." or "R.I.A."), the Ordnance Department flaming bomb insignia, and the month and year of production.
